It was 7:00 am and surprise-surprise, it was foggy and drizzly. I could have easily been bummed, but took it as an opportunity.

Being inspired by a course on Clickin Moms called Lighting 201 | Natural Light with Atmosphere, that I have the pleasure of helping in, I decided to embrace the elements … and decide which of my boys would embrace them with me.

I knew Gage would be a shoe-in, because he loves to help his mama out.

We shot mostly in a light rain and were done by 7:45am. I was soaked up to my armpits from the wet tall grass and learned 2 valuable lessons:

1) Don’t wear flipflops when shooting in the wet tall grass

2) Keep the shutter speed above 1/400 when shooting with the 135mm 2.0 {and even higher when a toddler is pulling on your leg!}

Toes

My little Tado loves bare feet during the day, but needs socks on when he sleeps. We go through this routine each time he goes to bed. After books, quiet visiting, and cuddles, I lay him down, sockless.

He lifts his little feet in the air, wiggles his toes and says, ‘Mama, mine?’

I kiss his toes and say “Okay, baby, I’ll get you sockies.”

He rests his legs over so this toes peek through the crib slats.

I could avoid this by simply putting his socks on before even getting him in the bed, but where’s the fun in that?

I love these little rituals …

I love these little toes, oh.so.much.

And his little fingers are pretty sweet, too.

While it is wonderful to be published or sought out for guidance, the best compliment I as a photographer can receive is having repeat clients. Because then I know I’ve accomplished what I’ve set out to do – create images that my clients love. How do I know they love them? Put simply, the come back for more!

I photographed this family’s maternity session and then their little guy as a newborn, and recently had the pleasure of photographing them as a complete unit, and with a little extra focus on the baby’s 6 month birthday!

I’m warning you, there is a lot of photos … and a lot of cuteness!

Once we finished up outside, in-doors we went for a little nap, and studio time.
