a) it doesn’t give us enough time

b)  we’re all tired and in need of naps by then

c) Kaden wakes up half way through and we can’t finish because he seems to wake up crabby everyday.

So, we’re now doing what My Father’s World actually does advise, and are spreading our study time out a bit throughout the day.  Gage would rather just sit down and get it all done, but we’re working through that.

Consequently, school now involves Kaden.  A usually happy Kaden, since we start right after breakfast.

Littlest brother loves to be by his biggest brother so Gage gets to practice his concentration skills.

Usually during this time we do activities that don’t take quite as much concentration (for him) as others … writing and math, yes.  Reading, we save for later.

Can you just hear Gage’s exasperated tone above?  Haha … just kidding.  He was actually working on reciting his proverb, not getting mad at Kaden for driving on it.

I think it is totally sweet that Kaden wants to be by Gage, but I know I’m going to probably do better at distracting him.  So far, though, this adjustment to our school day is working out pretty well.   And Kaden driving a Lego motorcycle on Gage’s paperwork is the better alternative when it comes to distraction options.

Because contrary to popular belief, a tired mama with a should still be napping/crying two-year-old on her lap does NOT make for a good educator, of tired-would-benefit-from-a-nap 4 and 6 year olds.

Just sayin’.
