Well, Hello There!

I am so excited to get to know you… I have met so many wonderful people from across the world through blogging and I’m happy to add you to that list!

So, to introduce myself, my name is Lacey….

OurFamily2014-27

… and I am a photographer-mama to three little boys, Gage, Cooper and Kaden.  I am married to Matt, I still wonder to this day why I’ve been so blessed to have him as my husband.  🙂  We live in the country and enjoy a laid-back yet energy-filled lifestyle that may be unlike that of many.  Living here was an adjustment for me at first, as I grew up in Seattle and was used to the 5 minute drive to get ANYWHERE.  Now, an hour drive to anywhere is the norm.  Occasionally, I dream of living in a big city or on the coast in a warmer climate, but this is home and it has become as much a part of me as the air I breathe.

I love the Lord and I celebrate His amazing creations.  I do so by documenting His blessings – the everyday life with my family, that He gave me.  My desire to do so sparked my love of scrapbooking, which lured me deep into photography. And both pulled me into blogging.  And now, here we are.

I blog to document life, to share my photos, and to gain perspective on motherhood.  Writing about our experiences puts a spin on the events that simply living it just doesn’t do.  Sharing the stories of my boys can make me laugh, when living through the story made me want to cry with frustration!  I love that about writing and journaling.  And I love  sharing those experiences on this blog, so you can laugh with me or shed some light on situations.  Or to learn from my mistakes or to reflect on when you went through the same thing with your little ones.

A few more tidbits about me, so you REALLY feel like you know me… I have a thing for my space-heater:  the sound and warmth soothes me!  I graduated from Washington State University, with a degree in Organizational Communication, a week before getting married.  Thanks to my degree, my boys can’t talk their way out of anything! HA!  We’re homeschooling our boys because (A) we want to, and (B) the nearest school would be an hour long bus ride.  In my home, a home-cooked-meal is a must at the end of the day – be it by my hands or my husband’s.  I REALLY enjoy HGTV and the Food Network!  Fixer Upper is my favorite show right now, even  though I have no desire to remodel an old house!  While I do love being cuddled up in the house, we are also outdoor people.  Hiking, walking, barbecuing, camping… gardening.  I get a jolt of vitality when my hands are working in my gardens…  ahh… there is nothing quite like getting outside… not many things make me feel closer to God than experiencing the wonder of nature and seeing the joy it brings to all 4 of my guys.

I hope this little blurb helps you feel at home here.  I hope you want to come back and check out what life with country boys is like … and I hope you’ll let me know I’m not alone in the craziness that is motherhood!

Enjoy… and thanks for stopping by!

  • Lisa - Hi there! New fan and aspiring mamatographer here!

I saw your pull-back post recently and LOVED it. I have viewed many, but yours just seemed so straight forward and I am so grateful to have found it.

If I may ask as question, I was wondering which beanbag / posing ottoman you use? Trying to decide between Shoot Baby and Newborn Nest, but open to any and all suggestions. I am also torn between the studio and travel sizes, and wondering if it is better to start with the big one, as there isn’t a huge difference in price.

Thank you for being such an inspiration and so giving of your time.ReplyCancel

  • Veronnica W. - Hi there! Totally off topic question! But where’d you get your adorable shirt in the above picture? I love it! It’s so flowy and just nice!

Sorry to hear you’ve taken a step back but I can totally understand. I’ll miss seeing you in my feed with your gorgeous images but I look forward to the day when your time as a photographer is back, be it in 10 or 20 years!ReplyCancel

    • Lacey - Hi Veronnica! Thank you. 🙂 I’ll still be taking just as many images (probably more!) just not for clients. 🙂 The top is from Nordstrom, but I purchased it several years ago. It is so comfy!ReplyCancel

    • Lacey - Hi Julie! Thank you for visiting! I shoot with a Nikon D800 and several prime lenses. Though most often I use my 35 1.4 indoors and my 70-200 2.8 outdoors. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Veronika - Hi Lacey, I love your work! I just love the crispness of your images. Hope you won’t feel offended if I ask you a lens-related question (some photographers do as they think that people who are asking that question simply think that the equipment is the only reason to get better photos). Anyway, I have a growing photog business based in Australia. I only recently purchased a full frame camera and used to do my magic only with a couple of lenses. My absolute fav is prime 50 f/1.4 I use Canon. I have had a zoom lens Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 for about a month now and I bought it as I thought I can’t afford to buy a Canon one. But, it has been a month and although I am trying hard, every day actually, I am not getting the sharpness I wanted from this particular lens! My fifty is awesome but if I shoot events or weddings I need something wider…so I am now playing with an idea to get something else instead of my Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 ( I purchased it on special with 60-day return guarantee, so had nothing to loose I had thought. What can you suggest ? Thanks for your time. VeronikaReplyCancel
