Portraits, with a Pinch of Lifestyle

I feel like I often say that I don’t take my boys out for portraits … but I always say that when I’m prefacing a post of portraits!  So, with as often as I say it, I must be posting portraits of them a lot.  🙂  I really don’t *like* to do their portraits and want to leave that to a professional, but I added a new lens to my camera bag recently and felt it was only fitting to give it a proper welcome.   A few weeks ago, we took advantage of a beautiful evening and went to our favorite walking park in town.  Here’s a few (okay, a LOT) of portraits, and thankfully a few boys-being-boys images from our adventure …

Oh I’m sorry … what??  When did Kaden get old enough to give me THIS look??

        … that’s better …

While I did this ↑, Doot worked on this ↓…

And that progressed to this …

This whole area had been filled with trees, but recently got a bit of a haircut.  The boys found loads of sticks, consequently, and those were a lot more fun to pay attention to than I was.

I started to feel like it was more fun to photograph them skinning the sticks than them looking at the camera …

They started to get restless with this spot so when they started chasing each other, we had to move on…

        Yes… begging to move on…

Okay … done with that and they were ready to MOVE …

And move we did … right over to the pond to see a little critter climbing onto the bank…

And that (↑) is what it looks like when the littlest guy is done with what we are doing.  And lucky for all of us, my camera quit working right after this shot, so yes, we were done.  😉

And now, really, I don’t think I’ll take any more portraits of them for awhile…. maybe.  LOL … who’m I kidding … I have some to edit right now!

Photography friends … these were taken with the D800 and 70-200 2.8.  This was a ‘new to me body’ but got sent back because of the error I got at the end of this little outing.  Hoping the next one behaves better!  😉

        • Brea - Beautiful, beautiful in every way. You do count yourself a professional, don’t you??? I guess its easier for someone who’s not the mom to elicit cooperation from the children, but yours seem to do very well for you.ReplyCancel

        • Melissa - Looks like they had a blast out there skinnin’ sticks and climbing trees. 😉 You show off their love for each other so well, Lacey. I giggled out loud of Cooper pushing Doot up the tree. LOL!ReplyCancel
