We were to wear pink to church this past weekend in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness …

Pink clothing is obviously slim pickin’s for the males in my house but we made it happen.

I had to explain many times to my boys why they were wearing pink and whom we were wearing it for. Talking about Breast Cancer is foreign to me … it hasn’t (thankfully) affected my life as other diseases have, such as ALS, Alzheimer’s, and Lung Cancer. And it is even more foreign to little boys … but they were totally all for supporting the survivors and helping bring awareness.

For 24 hours, they wore their pink… that was their idea.
At first, I just kept commenting on how cute they looked in this color but as they day went on I was touched, humbled, and full of prayer and thanksgiving each time I looked at them.

At church, I was given a pink flower and after we came home I often found my boys looking at the flower, smelling it and gently touching the pedals …

I hope that if this blog post reaches anyone who has been affected by Breast Cancer, may God bless you! And hopefully this will be a little reminder to everyone else to be aware and to be proactive in early detection. Our love to you!
xoxo

Just saw this today. I have a grandma whose a three time breast cancer survivor. Thanks for this post. And its true what others say, your boys are great!
As a recent survivor THANK YOU and THANKS TO THEM. The pics were AMAZING and very touching! I’m BRCA(breast cancer gene) positive my 3 kids 2 of which are boys are 50% more likely to get this horrible disease! Knowledge is power and prayer is key! Early detection saves lives I was 32 now 33 would NOT have seen 34.
Your boys are so awesome. They are going to make some ladies very happy one day.. Save the Tatas!
I could just melt into each and every one of those photos. Oh, my, so precious and so thoughtful.
XOXOXO to my sweet boys in pink from Grammie
that was such a thoughtful idea to wear it for 24 hours. they seem like great little boys.
What a great post, Lace. Thank you for teaching your boys values in life, like caring for others and compassion even though they aren’t directly effected. What wonderful boys they are and what wonderful men they will grow up to be, being taught these lessons early on!
