Really, the only thing better than a newborn session, is shooting a newborn session with Megan Squires. When I visited her back in August she was sweet enough to set up this shoot with a friend of hers, so we could work together. It was amazing to shoot in her adorably perfect studio, and of course, to watch her work. She gave me such a fresh perspective on how to approach my sessions and working beside one of the best newborn photographers in our industry is simply beyond inspiring!

Megan’s studio is all (fantastic) natural light, provided by a floor to ceiling window…
Yup, I get that close to shush really loudly into baby’s ear when they start to stir!

And, no … I wasn’t manually focusing there. I forgot my 50, so borrowed Megan’s 50 1.4D, which was quite a bit smaller than I was used to. So this was the most comfy way to hold, and balance, my camera. 
I can’t say it enough, that shooting beside Megan was dream come true. And she is just as amazing of a friend as she is a photographer … she took me out for a pedicure right after our session! Seriously, though, I’ll get weepy if I start talking about how much I love and miss Megan, so I won’t get into that now.
I will suggest, though, that you head over to her blog and learn more about her if you haven’t already, AND head then head over to Amazon to pick up her book, Traced. I read the entire novel in less than 36 hours because I could.not.put.it.down. Did I mention she’s amazing?!?
