This year has been a night and day difference for us with homeschooling. On September 10th, we began our 3rd year of homeschooling and our 2nd with the My Father’s World curriculum. I thought it would be such a challenge to teach both Gage (2nd grade) and Cooper (kindergarten), but it has turned out to be such blessing. I’ve accepted what a huge responsibility this is and the Lord has changed my heart about the importance of this job. Last year, I felt like school was just a little part of our day. This year, I feel like it is the priority of our day.
We definitely still have challenges, but we’re finding our groove and it is working. We’re working. Homeschooling is working and I’m pretty excited about it! I definitely feel God has answered many of my prayers regarding school and I continually pray for His guidance and encouragement.
We’re opening the box of homeschooling …

… and are looking forward to seeing what this year has in store!
Many images of our “schooling” are to come, but here are a few taken during Art …

Again, we’re getting there. I feel so much more organized and prepared and patient. The boys hardly complain about school time at all … which is a HUGE improvement from last year! Kaden entertains himself (as you can see from above). Yes, prayers are most definitely being answered here.
We’re moving one day at a time, but so far so good!

Wow! “priority of our day” instead of “part of our day”…I needed that, thanks!
Haha, I am so bad with art. Nicely done. Wish I could be more like that. Maybe one day.
Hi Sarah and Michelle! It is so great to hear from others who homeschool! I find it incredibly encouraging, so thank you both for posting!
Hi, Lacey! I came over to your blog to see your work via Clickin’Moms (researching doing my 1st breakout session!)… and then I saw this post.
I so could’ve written this post. This was also us this year. My oldest boy is a 1st grader, the middle boy is a Kindergartener this year- and I was feeling an awful weight of responsibility & dare I say drudgery over knowing homeschooling this year would be more work with 2 kiddos instead of one. But, Praise God!!! It’s actually been a blessing here too. We’re using Sonlight & A Beka- but I did look into MFW as well. Looks like you’re doing a fabulous job. Just wanted to tell you that you are not alone in what you’re doing. And I’m so excited to find out that you’re a homeschooler! lol. That probably sounds silly. Anyways, have a wonderful weekend. -Sarah
Great photos and post! We are using MFW as well for 1st grade and K. We love it! It’s great seeing other homeschoolers and ones who use this curricullum too!
Thank you so much, Amie!
I have been following your blog for a few months. I am not sure how I came across it, maybe Clickin Mom. I love your photography and look forward to seeing your images. I was reading one of your posts the other day and I wondered if you were homeschoolers. I don’t know what it was that lead me to that thought. It was probably a lot of little things anyway it is clear that you are doing a great job with your boys! It is always nice to see fellow homeschoolers; my boys are in 1st and K. I will keep you in my prayers as the year continues homeschooling isn’t easy but it is definitely worth it!
Halleluyah! An answer to my prayers too
And watching his big brothers “do school” will get Kaden going in the right direction. So when it’s his turn, he’ll be ready
XOXOXO to GCK from Grammie
You are super mommy! I am so glad things are going smoothly (for now) and that you are putting your trust in Him to guide you. You are such an inspiration Lacey.
