Sunday morning, Matt and I woke up to get ready for church. I told him that I was bummed we had to miss the 3-D Shoot (put on by the TAO) that had gone on that weekend because Matt ended up having to work on Saturday. After about half-a-minute of deliberation we decided to make the 2.5 hour drive to Sisters, Oregon to go shoot us some targets.
Let me tell you … last minute planning is super unusual for me. I like to plan things well in advance. I’m currently working on my August calendar, in fact. But pretty much on Sundays, when it is Matt’s only day off in the week, I’ll do whatever it is that he wants to do.
So we packed up and headed south.

I’ve told you before, we live a pretty chilled lifestyle. But still, getting away as a family to do something different from our normal routine, is so good for the soul. The soul of our family.

{Let’s take a moment to just observe these 4 shots from my husband … at 40 yards, one right after the other …. }

We were only able to shoot for about an hour and a half and still had lots of day left, so he went a bit further south to the Metolius Fish Hatchery at Wizard Falls. G&C had been there before with Matt and were beyond excited to show me and Kaden how we can feed the fish …

I love it when experiences happen and whenever you remember your good time, it literally warms you up and relaxes you. That’s how I feel about this trip. We’re definitely embracing the notion of ‘quality not quantity’ with our fun family adventures … eh, who am I kidding.
Everyday is an adventure with my guys.

Thank you, Crystal! Your comment about Cooper hands on Kaden’s face made me laugh… I don’t know why his hands always end up there! I’d like to think it is just because of their height difference, but think it is mostly because Coop loves to bug Kaden!
Gorgeous shots!! I have to say I’m super jealous of the greenery! We live in the high desert part of Los Angeles county and nothing aroung but brown! =) I have to say my favorite shot is of your little one squating by the river and you shooting from the path with green on both sides. LOVE that! But, the one with the middle boy trying to hold the youngest face is what prompted me to post…I’ve got soooo many shots with my son doing this to my daughter. It just made me smile. =)
Beautiful work, as always
Stumbled upon this tonight and loved reading through it and seeing the pictures! What an awesome day for your family – I love spontaneous outings!
Love all of the green in these images! Feels like home
I’m so glad you guys had a fun day! We don’t do spontaneous trips all that often, but I’m always glad we went… such great memories to have.
Thank you, Don! It is so good to hear from you!
One of my favorite places to go, the metolius river. your pictures are beautiful. Great shots, good job.
The boys look great.
What another beautiful set from you Lacey! I love all them. They are all so simple and gorgeous. Glad you got some much needed family time.
These are great shots and terrific memories! I love the four of them on the fence and the tiny toes on tiptoes! SOOO Cute!
Happy Friday! This is yet another I-can’t-stop-smiling posts. I love it when you do “family adventures/walks.” It’s fun to see Matt with his boys. My, those little guys are growing up so fast. I did, though, miss seeing you in a photo!
XOXOXO to GCK from Grammie
love the matching tan shorts along the rail….too cute. We don’t take spur of the moment trips anywhere…but it sure looked like a great day! I had to chuckle at the August calendar planning, mine is already done :0) Gotta love being a planner ha!
Just love this post Lace! Hugs to you and your boys!!
Wow, looks like fun! Seeing the boys in pictures for some reason makes them look a little older. I love how they all matched Matt…right down to the Keen’s!
I love this post! Kaden and Matt with the bow…that is too cute! And I love Cooper walking away with his bow and looking back. :hp I’m telling you…when am I coming to Oregon?!
