The Pattersons, Part 2 | West Linn Oregon Family Photographer

Yesterday, I introduced you to the Pattersons.  You saw the portrait portion of our session … however, as much as I appreciate those images and believe this family’s awesomeness is captured in them, we needed to capture MORE.  More of their life, their interaction, their home, their daily routine.

I do believe these ‘sacred mundane‘ activities as Kari refers to them, are, well… truly sacred and beg to be documented in photos.  I’m over-the-moon excited to offer this type of session to my clients!  In preparation for our day, Kari and I chatted about some activities that are routine for them and she named study time, the kids playing, preparing a meal or a snack, housework, reading together, blogging, and putting her daughter down for a nap.  Realistically, these take place over the course of an entire day … so for the sake of our session {which was about 2.5 hours} we condensed their day!  I scoped out the lighting in their home, planned out where and in what order we’d roll through these activities, and off we went.

With a bit of forethought and planning, we had a relaxing, blessed experience, and I do believe we captured images that will remind Kari and her family of “A Day in the Life”…

{enjoy}

{such a sweet moment when her son stopped reading, to whisper his love to his mama …}

Time and again, I am humbled by the opportunity to document life for my family and for my clients … whether it is brand new life, or lives lived well.  This session truly touched me as it was an opportunity to observe the sweet, genuine moments this family shared as they simply did life. We didn’t have to go to a fantastically original location … the comfort of home was all we needed!

Thank you, Kari and Jeff, for welcoming this session!

And I have encouraged you to before, and will again and again, but please do visit Kari’s blog, Sacred Mundane.  You will surely be enlightened and uplifted!

This is amazing. What a wonderful thing for a family to have captured for them. All of the images are beautiful, but the apple cutting, with the juice droplets… the light and the moment. Simple and perfect :)

I’m sure Kari will treasure all of these photos. Little Heidi is a living-doll and I love Dutch’s eyes and his cowlick! Being a quilter, I especially enjoyed all of Kari’s quilts and seeing how she mounted the quilt blocks on her wall. This was a beautiful look into the everyday life of a dear Christian family.

XOXOXO to GCK from Grammie
