A five-year-old’s birthday party was relaxing??? Yep.
The boys and I went to a birthday party last week that involved 10 kids under 7 in a cozy, quaint home and I felt amazingly relaxed the entire time. I think that says a great deal about the company we were in. We congregated in one living space the whole time and it was completely enjoyable.

Pirates were played …

Music and laughter …

They devoured the extensive Lego book collection the birthday boy had …

Not even the meal caused anxiety …

Quite honestly, I couldn’t get enough of the gorgeous light in this home so the kids could have been out-of-control and I still would have been in seventh heaven. ![]()
Really, though, I think this is a side-effect of all our kids getting older, and I’m really really liking it!

Ohhhhh…the light is so pretty!!! We have a pirate hat like that. lol
So grateful you captured these. Thank you for sharing. I remarked to Kari when I first saw them, “where is that?” not realizing it was our home. You captured the moments perfectly.

AHHHH!!! I LOVE these. Ok Gage in the pirate hat and Wyatt in the eye-patch! Hysterical… This is perfect timing, Lacey, I really needed a picture of reading to the kids for tomorrow’s post. So fun, thanks for sharing these AND for sharing that super fun day together. I love that you captured it!
The close up of the little girl in pink absolutely took my breath away. I love that I can see the texture of her skin on her cheek. I love the composition, and the light. Just gorgeous!
Great pictures!!! Love them all. Was fun to see you.
Hi! I’m one of your recent fans and followers. I am beyond in love with your photography!! I’m a hobbyist and I completely idolize the way you capture your family ‘in action’. I’ve gone into this mode since following your site here of hating all of my pictures again! I completely got over comparing myself to others and just watching myself grow, but with it being winter and dark a lot of the time, I CANNOT get this beautiful white balance you capture in EVERY photo (I’m so envious). I can see how much better I could be doing. I do have a grey card, but I still feel like it’s not accurate. Any tips at all?? BTW- every photo you take is a work of art! You are beyong talented and I LOOOOOVE seeing what you post! Big time fan, right here:)!!
Great shots Lace! It was a fun and relaxing day with great friends:-)
Nice
It looks like Pirate Gage tried to get the party moving, but the quiet books won out. You sure captured a lot of precious faces. Sweet….
