It only took us until the end of July to finally get out and have a little weekend adventure. Before we had kids, Matt and I would do this stuff every weekend … just hop in the car and drive. On Saturday we did just that. We drove up the Clackamas River, endured LOTS of crying from Kaden, passed by our original hiking destination because he had JUST fallen asleep, and ended up at Little Crater Lake.
No, not THE Crater Lake. It’ll be a few more years till we brave that trip. But this was a good little sampling of how amazing the bid-daddy Crater Lake is.
And, we walked a bit on the Pacific Crest Trail … which takes a person all the way from Canada to Mexico. Neither country was calling our names, so we stayed put and let the boys pick up sticks … and listened to them complain about wanting to go to a REAL lake.
This is me. In case you don’t know me … I need a shot for something on Clickin Moms so I prepped the spot with Gage, then handed the camera over to Matt. 🙂
Rather than heading back the same way we came, we decided to make a big loop and head over to Mt. Hood. Seeing our boys in shorts and keens brushing elbows with people in snow-shoots and ski boots was sort of a hoot.
One I would have appreciated much more if my face didn’t feel like it was going to explode from annoyed sinuses… the 6000 foot elevation didn’t agree with me.
That out there is Mt. Jefferson, and evidently there is a reason the Mt. Hood lodge is called “Timberline” … literally, it sits above the timber line. Thus, the nice straight shot view of Mt. Jefferson.
And this, is Mt. Hood … up close and personal. 8 years ago, Matt stood atop that summit with my brother, Bart and 2 other guys. It is totally my hope that he got that climbing stuff out of his system…
But wait … our weekend adventures continue tomorrow. Can you hardly STAND it?? Hah!
