Party Prep…

Gage and Cooper’s birthdays are 5 days apart.  My due dates for them were actually the same day – April 15th.  But both boys came a bit early and now here we are years later, celebrating their 6th and 4th birthdays.

We celebrate their birthdays together – a blessing and a challenge.  A blessing, for me, because I get to plan one less party… bad mommy.  A blessing, too, I think for our friends, because it is one less party to attend.  Okay, I don’t know if they think that’s a blessing, but, moving on.

It is a challenge, though, because I do want each boy to have his special day!  Cooper did understand that this party was for him, too. :(  Until, he saw his cake, opened his presents, and people wished him a happy birthday.  His misunderstanding wasn’t due to our lack of acknowledgment… he just didn’t get it.

Anyway…

We just had their ‘Friend’ birthday party yesterday.  In the past we have gone all out with everyone we know… the boys’ friends, their parents, our families, etc.  But that has gotten to be REALLY big, and we thought it was time to tone it down a bit.  And, eleviate the dads from feeling like they had to come.  So, we followed our friends’ lead (who had the same idea) and had a “play-date” party.  Just kiddos my boys see A LOT, and their mamas.  Quite a perfect day.

Smaller scale as it was, the prep work for this  began weeks ago!   When I caved, and purchased stuff for goodie bags.

I asked Gagers to look at me and he said, “Mom, I’m working.”  oooh… big 6-year-old-sassy-pants!

{This was the sign Gage made as a reminder to him and Cooper, not to go into our guest room.  Or else, they’d see their gifts and they’d have to be returned. :)}

Thank you, Lacey, for sharing the party-prep photos. It’s almost like I’m there. Gage holds his marker very well. Both boys are SO serious. I’m excited to see the pary photos. Was Gage “in charge” at the party too?

XOXOXO to GCK from Grammie
